Christmas Party 2016

Hope you can come to our Christmas Party on Saturday 3 December 2016 from 12 – 3 pm at The Millennium Hall, Horton Cum Studley, OX33 1BF.

Lunch will be served at 12.30 pm, and will be followed by entertainment, arts and crafts, a small raffle, a tombola and, of course, Father Christmas with a gift for every child.  The party is suitable for children aged 0–12 but if you have teenagers who would like to help out please let us know.

Please reply to Jenny Davies (djennywren@aol.com) by 29 November and let her know the names and ages of the children attending. Siblings and one friend are welcome, but don’t forget to send us their details too!

Bumblebees October Meet Up

Bumblebees is our after-school club for deaf children and their siblings and parents. Our next meet up is at Bicester Bowl, on Monday 3 October 2016 at 3.45 pm, so we can start bowling at 4 pm. We will pay for bowling and food for the children.

Trip to Cotswold Wildlife Park

Please join us at Cotswold Wildlife Park on Sunday 21 August 2016 at 10 am.  The Wildlife Park is located 2 miles south of Burford, and 20 miles west of Oxford (postcode: OX18 4JP). We hope you can join us for this super day out. ODCS will pay the entrance fee for everyone but you will need to bring your own picnic or pay for your own food and drinks from the café.

NEW: Bumblebees on a Monday

Our Bumblebees after-school club will meet on Monday 4 July 2016 at 3.30 pm at Rugrats and Half Pints in Banbury. We are trying out a change of day to a Monday to see if more families are able to come along. This indoor soft play venue is suitable for children aged 0-11. We pay for entry and food for your deaf child and their hearing siblings, giving you the chance to chat with other parents.

Music and Listening Sessions for Pre-School Deaf Children

An experienced Teacher of the Deaf is offering five free music and listening sessions for pre-school deaf children during the summer holidays. These will take place on Thursday mornings in Newbury in Berkshire on 4 August, 11 August, 18 August, 25 August and 1 September 2016 – see the flier for more details:  Summer music sessions

Theatre Trip for 11-18 year olds

We are offering a trip for hearing impaired young people aged 11 -18 to see a captioned performance of Guys and Dolls in London on Thursday 7 July 2016. There will be a workshop and an introduction to set, props and costumes in the morning, followed by the performance in the afternoon. The group will travel by Oxford Tube and underground, accompanied by Fran Simmons and at least one other adult.

The trip is free including transport, but the young people must be members of ODCS and be aged 11-18. Let us know as soon as possible if you would like a place. Please go to the Join page If you need to renew your membership for 2016-17 (due from 1 April 2016) or join ODCS.

Green Dragon Eco Farm Trip

Families with pre-school and primary aged children are invited to join us at the Green Dragon Eco Farm on Sunday 5 June 2016. We will be there from 10.30 am until around 3 pm.
The farm is situated in Hogshaw, between Buckingham and Aylesbury, and has a range of activities for the whole family. Attractions include a feeding barn with baby animals, petting area, adventure playground, go karts, soft play barn and messy play barn. For more details visit the website.
We will pay for your entrance to the farm, but you will need to bring your own picnic (if the weather is good) and/or pay for your own refreshments from the cafe.
